About Abbotswick

“Be still and know that I am God” Ps 46

The Mission of the House of Prayer is to respond to the call of Jesus heard through people’s need for a place to which they can go to meet God in prayer and be inspired to holy living.

The House of Prayer is open to everyone in the Diocese and all who are seeking spiritual renewal, guidance and healing. They are able to visit as individuals or as a group.

A resident Catholic Religious Community provides stability, continuity and hospitality.

“My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples” Mt 21:13

As from September 2004 a new religious community, the Community of Our Lady of Walsingham,  seeks to promote this ethos, providing welcome and hospitality. You are invited to join us in prayer whenever you are able to visit. You can find out the daily prayer timetable on the page ‘A Day in the Life’.The daily intentions are:

Sunday Interfaith Dialogue
Monday Families, Respect for Life and Creation
Tuesday Young People
Wednesday Consecrated Men and Women
Thursday Bishops, Priests, Deacons and Seminarians
